Chairman, Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa
Ron received his Associate of Arts degree from Grandview College in 1978 and is a 1981 graduate of Drake University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree majoring in Computer Information Systems with a minor in Accounting. During his college years Ron worked in a variety of roles including as a licensed life insurance agent and also as a crop hail adjuster.
Prior to joining FMH Ron was employed by the Savings & Loan Computer Trust as a Programmer Analyst. He joined FMH full time on December 14, 1981, in the EDP Department. In January 1988 he was named Assistant Manager, and promoted to Assistant Vice President in December of that year. On July 1, 1993 he was promoted to Assistant Treasurer, a position he held until March of 1999. He was appointed to the Board of Directors on December 31, 1993, and was promoted to the position of Manager of the newly named Information Services Department in February, 1994. In May 1996 he was promoted to Vice President. In 2006 he was named Chief Information Officer and in 2007 was appointed to the Investment and Executive Committees. On December 31, 2010, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board on January 1, 2013.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) and has previously served on the NCIS Technology & Information Processing (TIP) Committee. Ron serves on the Board and Executive Committee of Crop Insurance Research Bureau (CIRB) and is the Immediate Past Chair. Ron has also served on the Board of the Iowa Insurance Institute.
