April 10-11, 2024 CIRB Spring Fly-In & Policy Conference
This spring, CIRB members gathered in Washington D.C. for the 2024 Spring Fly-In & Policy Conference. Members of the Emerging Leaders Program, the Executive Committee, and staff visited with over 56 offices about the importance of crop insurance as a critical risk management tool for producers. Members heard the latest policy updates from CIRB staff, RMA staff, and crop insurance staff of the House and Senate Agriculture Committee. This fly-in also marked the graduation of the largest Emerging Leaders class in CIRB history.

Recap: October 24-26, 2023 CIRB Fall Fly-In & Policy Conference
CIRB members and staff, the CIRB E.C., and the new Emerging Leaders class took to the Hill during the Fall Fly-In and Policy Conference. Members had the opportunity to visit with more than 50 offices about why crop insurance is a critical tool for producers, heard the latest policy updates from CIRB staff, and were able to host a panel discussion of the House and Senate Agriculture Committee crop insurance staffers. Recap: April 19-20, 2023 CIRB Spring Fly-In & Policy Conference
CIRB E.C., Emerging Leaders, and members and staff met with 46 Congressional offices to discuss the importance of protecting, preserving and improving crop insurance. After the spring Executive Committee meeting members heard the latest updates from policy experts and decision-makers during an advocacy training and federal affairs update. During hill meetings, CIRB members were able to welcome many new members of the 118th Congress including Rep. Tracey Mann (R-KS-1), Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA-4), and Rep. Nikki Budzinksi (D-IL-14). They were also able to visit with a variety of offices and crop insurance champions including Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND), and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS). Thank you to all who attended the event.
Recap: October 30-31, 2019 CIRB Fall Fly-In & Policy Conference
CIRB E.C., Emerging Leaders, and members and staff met with more than 35 Congressional offices to discuss the importance of protecting, preserving and improving crop insurance. After the Fall Executive Committee meeting, groups received an issues update and then met with a variety of offices including crop insurance champions Senator Ernst (R-IA), House Agriculture Committee Chairman Peterson (D-MN) and Congressman Filemon Vela (D-TX), who chairs the House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management. Recap: April 2-4, 2019 CIRB Fly-In & Policy Conference
29 CIRB members and staff hit “the Hill” for their spring Fly-In, meeting with 38 congressional offices to advocate for crop insurance, including with Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) and House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN). At the Policy Conference, attendees heard from Mary Kay Thatcher (Syngenta), The Honorable Jim Gerlach (BIPAC), Todd Van Hoose (Farm Credit Council) and CIRB’s own Tara Smith. The group also hosted Members of Congress, staffers, and Crop Insurance Coalition Partners at the Crop Insurance on Capitol Hill Reception. The reception included a graduation ceremony for the 2018-19 Emerging Leaders Program.
