D.C. Policy Conference and Fly-In

April 19-20, 2023 CIRB Fly-In & Policy Conference

We invite all CIRB members to attend the 2023 Spring Fly-In and Policy Conference on April 19-20 in Washington, DC! This event is an opportunity to bring the voice of crop insurance to Capitol Hill and hear the latest updates from policy experts and decision-makers. Some of the conference events include advocacy training, a federal affairs update, visits to key Capitol Hill offices, and networking opportunities. Click here to see the fly-in website and view the tentative schedule.

The event registration is free to all CIRB members. Registration closes on April 7th.

Recap: October 30-31, 2019 CIRB Fall Fall Fly-In

CIRB E.C., Emerging Leaders, and members and staff met with more than 35 Congressional offices to discuss the importance of protecting, preserving and improving crop insurance. After the Fall Executive Committee meeting, groups received an issues update and then met with a variety of offices including crop insurance champions Senator Ernst (R-IA), House Agriculture Committee Chairman Peterson (D-MN) and Congressman Filemon Vela (D-TX), who chairs the House Agriculture Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management. The Fly-In concluded with a discussion with Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Roberts (R-KS). Thank you to all who attended the event. Click here to view photos from the Fly-In. Recap: April 2-4, 2019 CIRB Fly-In and Policy Conference

29 CIRB members and staff hit “the Hill” for their spring Fly-In, meeting with 38 congressional offices to advocate for crop insurance, including with Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) and House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN). At the Policy Conference, attendees heard from Mary Kay Thatcher (Syngenta), The Honorable Jim Gerlach (BIPAC), Todd Van Hoose (Farm Credit Council) and CIRB’s own Tara Smith. The group also hosted Members of Congress, staffers, and Crop Insurance Coalition Partners at the Crop Insurance on Capitol Hill Reception. The reception included a graduation ceremony for the 2018-19 Emerging Leaders Program.

The 2018 Fly-In & Policy Conference was held on April 9-11 in Washington, D.C. The fly-in featured a morning policy conference that included a range of speakers. They finished with hill meetings and a Congressional reception. Thank you to everyone who attended.
